Quick Hits
  • The Mountain West emergence is upon us! After sending four teams to the NCAA tournament in each of the last two seasons, the MWC boasts four teams in this week's ranking. With Arizona (12-3, 3-1) remaining the only ranked Pac-12 team, there is a changing of the guard in basketball out west.

  • What is FAU (11-4, 1-1) doing?! On Dec. 23, the Owls out-dueled Arizona on a neutral court to win back the favor of the college basketball world that had lost confidence in FAU due to their putrid November loss to Bryant (9-7, 1-0). What have the Owls done to follow that up? Losses to Florida Gulf Coast (7-10,

  • On the topic of mid-majors, Dayton (12-2, 2-0) enters the rankings for the first time this season. The Flyers have won nine straight, have three Quadrant One wins, and have only lost to Houston (14-0, 1-0) on a neutral site and on the road to a frisky Northwestern (11-3, 2-1) team. Flyers are the clear favorite in the Atlantic-10.

  • The blue bloods are ascending. Kansas (13-1, 1-0), UConn (13-2, 3-1), North Carolina (11-3, 3-0), and Duke (11-3, 2-1) are all in the top-12 of this week's ranking. Similarly to head coach Mick Cronin, we will not be commenting on the disastrous situation at UCLA (6-9, 1-3).
